Costa Rica Travel Guide: Your Passport To The Perfect Vacation Plans Jan 01

Article by Rob Carlton

Costa Rica has become a popular travel destination in recent years. It has a wonderful climate, friendly people and the exchange rate for U.S. dollars is very favorable. If you are tempted to visit, here are some tips.

The most important tip in planning your Costa Rican adventure is to invest in a good Costa Rica travel guide. Use your favorite search engine on the internet and type in “Costa Rica Travel Guide” and you will get a variety of options.

What makes a travel guide a good value? Make sure it is recent, that is, published this year. This will not guarantee all the information is absolutely current but most of it should be. Also make sure it has all the information you want before you buy it: Does it list addresses, phone numbers, hours of operation, restaurant menus, hotel amenities etc.

Really good travel guides will also include discount offers. Coupons for hotels, restaurants and attractions can save you a great deal of money. They can also help you plan your trip: If a certain coupon gets your attention, plan your itinerary around getting to that particular business.

If it doesn’t list discounts, you would do well if your travel guide does list base prices. This way, you can get the best deal on budget car rentals, hotels etc. It may also rate the amenities so you can steer clear of low-quality businesses.

If you are not part of a tour group, make sure your tourist guide has good maps and directions. It can be unsettling to find yourself alone in a foreign country without a clue as to how to get to your destination. It is best to be prepared.

Another good feature to have in a travel guide is a list of holidays, events and local customs. This way you won’t be caught unprepared if you find you’ve arrived during the country’s national holiday. You’ll feel better knowing why there are crowds, or conversely, why no one seems to be working.

A good guide should also list how to dress in certain conditions. If local custom calls for dressing more formally for a religious event, you don’t want to risk appearing boorish.

You can find Costa Rica travel guides at a variety of locations: major bookstores, travel agencies, online etc. The Costa Rican tourist bureau will also be a good source of information. You may also consider your automobile club, if you are a member.

A tourist guide is one of your most important purchases in planning your trip to Costa Rica. Be sure to get one and study it well before your departure. That small book will make a big difference in how well you enjoy your visit and how well your finances fare
